Morris Chestnut Suggests His Character Will Have A New Love Interest In ‘Best Man’ Series
Fans were ecstatic when news of a Best Man series was confirmed earlier this week. And it was only a matter of time before potential storylines started to swirl; one of them being the future love life of Lance Sullivan, played by Morris Chestnut.
In the last installment of the franchise Best Man Holiday, released in November 2013, Lance Sullivan’s wife and college sweetheart Mia, played by Monica Calhoun, tragically passed away of cancer.
Now, Morris Chestnut has suggested that Lance could be ready to move on in The Best Man: The Final Chapters.
He said in a recent interview,
“The last time we saw Lance he was going through it emotionally. And it kind of ended there, we kind of never really saw how Lance really dealt with that loss. I think in the series you’re gonna see how Lance deals with it emotionally, sometimes he may go a little overboard. You’ll have to see.”
When asked if a new woman would be in Lance’s life, Chestnut revealed,
“That’s a possibility. There will never be anyone that can replace Mia for sure, but I’m sure there’s gonna be someone there who might catch his eye.”
News of a Best Man limited series was announced on Feb. 9th. It will feature the original cast and air on NBC’s streaming platform Peacock. Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming.
“We’re excited to reunite this beloved cast for a limited series run of The Best Man for Peacock. With a powerhouse duo like Malcolm and Dayna at the helm, fans will fall in love with our favorite group of friends all over again.”
Malcolm D. Lee, who wrote and directed the films, said:
“Here we go! The band is back together! I am very excited to bring these iconic characters back to the fans who have supported us through this franchise. We are thrilled to deliver everything one would expect from this group of friends in The Best Man universe and take them through their final chapters. We can’t wait! I told you it wouldn’t be 14 more years.”
The original Best Man hit theaters on Oct. 22, 1999.
