Demi Lovato Announces They Are Non-Binary
Singer and TV host Demi Lovato has recently announced they’re changing preferred pronouns to ‘they’ and identifies as nonbinary. They told fans that they are:
“proud to make the changes after a lot of self-reflective work.”
In a video and tweet posted today, they made the following announcement to fans:
“Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity & chance to be who we want & wish to be. I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you…you’ve seen the good, the bad & everything in between.”
Demi Lovato added:
“I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression, and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.”
They continued to say:
“I’m still learning & coming into myself, and I don’t claim to be an expert or an spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been ablate share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lovato spoke about a recent failed engagement to actor Max Ehrich. Lovato said that relationship helped them realize they’re “just too queer” for that kind of commitment to a man.
“Regardless if drama is happening or not, I am too gay to marry a man right now. I don’t know if that will change in 10 years and I don’t know if that’ll ever change, but I love accepting myself.”
