Damon Dash Blasts Jay-Z As A ‘Bully’ & A ‘Liar’ Amid Lawsuit From Roc-A-Fella Over Rapper’s ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Album
Update #2 (June 21st – 11:40 am ESTP) Damo Dash has more to say about the lawsuit he’s facing from Roc-A-Fella. He blasted Jay-Z and told Page Six,
“He lying. That’s a whole lie. Jay owns one-third of ‘Reasonable Doubt. They just said that I tried to sell an NFT of ‘Reasonable Doubt’ and … it’s not true. I’m not running around to different places trying to auction off ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ I’ve been working with one platform and that’s SuperFarm.”
He continued,
“And the thing is I own a third of Roc-A-Fella Records and I can sell my third if I feel like it.”
He went on to call out Jay-Z and added,
“Jay himself tried to buy my third and it was a crackhead deal. He offered me like I was Pookie or something from New Jack City.”
Still, he said he’s not surprised by Jay-Z’s alleged behavior,
“It is the same game. It just seems like they so mad if I get money. I don’t know why but why can’t I sell my third to whoever I want, whenever I want? I don’t have to ask. [Jay] don’t want nobody to eat but him. The real issue is [he has to] to compromise a man’s reputation for no reason.”
“He thinks Roc-A-Fella records is his — it is ours — and he’s doing all this on Roc-A-Fella’s behalf. He’s got ‘only one man to eat’ syndrome and ‘everybody else got to work for him’ syndrome and ‘kiss the ring and we’re gonna mess up his reputation’ syndrome if you look under the hood. It continues to happen.”
He concluded with,
“It is f***ed up for one black man to do that to another black man in front of all these people and whoever believes that s–t is a sucker. I got a bridge I can sell you too.”
Original Story (June 21st – 9:24 am EST) Have tensions been brewing behind the closed doors of Roc-A-Fella?
This past Friday (June 18th), Damon Dash–co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records–was sued by the company’s legal team. Specifically, he’s being sued for attempting to sell Jay-Z‘s Reasonable Doubt album as a non-fungible token (NFT). An NFT is essentially an asset that allows buyers to own the original piece of digital artwork or content–in this case, Jay-Z‘s debut album.
However, following the reports of this in-company lawsuit, Damon Dash has come forward and alleged it’s littered with misconceptions. For instance, the entrepreneur told TMZ that he’s trying to sell his entire stake in Roc-A-Fella–not just Reasonable Doubt. Damon Dash claims Jay-Z allegedly offered to buy out his 1/3 share in the record company–but it was supposedly too low to accept. So, as a result, Dash took matters into his own hands to find someone to buy out his share in Roc-A-Fella! Regarding this decision, he claims:
“Under the terms of the deal with a potential buyer, the buyer would buy my share of Roc-A-Fella Records and Jay-Z will have exclusive administration rights.”
Additionally, despite Roc-A-Fella’s claims that it owns the rights to Reasonable Doubt, Damon Dash says he believes it’s his prerogative to sell the album–along with the rest of his 1/3 stake in the company. He also reportedly claimed the lawsuit was nothing more than a scare tactic–and he seems to be going strong with his intentions to sell off his stake in the company to the highest buyer!
