Biz Markie’s Wife Says Fat Joe Called Every Week For The Past Year To Check On Biz Before He Passed
Biz Markie and his family had a friend in Fat Joe before his passing.
Biz Markie sadly passed away over the weekend at 57 years old. His rep said in a statement,
“We are grateful for the many calls and prayers of support that we have received during this difficult time. Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years. He leaves behind a wife, many family members and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes and frequent banter.”
Now, his wife Tara Hall is acknowledging Fat Joe as the friend who was there. She said when it comes to the dozens of people who contacted her while Biz Markie was hospitalized, Fat Joe was one of the most consistent. Biz Markie was admitted in the hospital last June after he suffered complications from diabetes.
Tara Hall told TMZ that Fat Joe called every week to check on her and their family. He asked her if they needed anything and made it clear he was there to support them, whether it was financially or in aother way. She said Fat Joe was ready to help his family in any way they needed as she was the only one who could visit Biz Markie because of COVID-19 guidelines. She stayed by his side every day until he passed.
Tara Hall said now that Biz Markie has passed away, Fat Joe is still extremely committed to helping and even offerd to pay for the memorial service. She said while she appreciates his kindness, she could financially cover the expenses for the services.
She added that there were lots of other people who checked in on Biz Markie often like Doug E. Fresh, Big Daddy Kane and Treach of Naughty By Nature.
