Malcolm X Series Will Be Executive Produced By His Daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz, Currently In Development
A television series based on the life of human rights activist Malcolm X is in the works at Sony Pictures Television’s TriStar. According to Variety, the executive producer of the series is Malcolm X’s daughter 58-year-old Ilyasah Shabazz. The show will be based upon the novels “X: A Novel” and “The Awakening of Malcolm X,” both of which were co-written by Ilyasah Shabazz. Jay Marcus with State Street Pictures will serve as co-executive producer for the project, with Ron Baldwin producing.

Ilyasah Shabazz has also written other books about her well-known father such as “Growing Up X,” the children’s book “Malcolm Little: The Boy Who Grew Up to Become Malcolm X,” and “Betty Before X.”
Malcolm X’s life has been portrayed on screen before by Denzel Washington in the 1992 Spike Lee film “Malcolm X.”
In addition to that, another notable performance was when Kingsley Ben-Adir played the activist in the Oscar-nominated 2020 film “One Night in Miami.”
