Cardi B Makes History As ‘Bodak Yellow’ Reaches 1 Billion Views On YouTube
Cardi B is at it again. She’s come a long way since her breakout single Bodak Yellow was released in 2017, and now the video for the #1 song is helping her make history.
Her fans celebrated her via Twitter Monday morning (Aug. 2) as Bodak Yellow reached 1 billion views on YouTube, making her the first female rapper to have multiple music videos with over 1 billion views on her channel. Her 2018 single I Like It featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin currently has 1.3 billion views.
The video is said to be the first in history to reach 1 billion views with an inexpensive budget. Cardi B tweeted earlier this year that it cost $15,000 to make.

Bodak Yellow had already made history itself when it topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for three weeks shortly after its release. She became the first female rapper to land a solo #1 hit in the 21st century. The only female emcee who had reached the milestone before that was Lauryn Hill for Doo Wop (That Thing), which was released in 1998.
