Aaliyah Allegedly Took A Sleeping Pill Ahead Of Her Fatal Flight, According To Witness: She Didn’t Even Know She Was Getting Boarded On A Plane
New details surrounding Aaliyah‘s death are coming out nearly two decades following her passing.
A biography about Aaliyah (full name Aaliyah Haughton) is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, August 17th. It is written by Kathy Iandoli. Ahead of its release, a number of publications have received a first look at the book. Resultingly, new details surrounding the singer’s death are being revealed nearly 20 years after the fatal airplane crash that took her life.
As you may recall, Aaliyah died on August 25th, 2001 when she was just 22 years old. She was on a small airplane flying from the Bahamas following her shoot of the “Rock the Boat” music video. However, the airplane went down shortly after taking off, resulting in the death of everyone on board.
Now, additional details regarding the incident have come to light thanks to her upcoming biography. A witness named Kinsley Russell, whose mother drove Aaliyah to the airport in a taxi, claims the singer was given a sleeping pill before her flight. Allegedly, Aaliyah took the sleeping pill in order to calm her nerves, as she reportedly did not want to board the flight. Kinsley Russell claims:
“They took her out of the van; she didn’t even know she was getting boarded on a plane. She went on the airplane asleep.”
Aaliyah‘s biography–Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah–will be available for purchase on August 17th, 2021.
