Kevin Durant & Draymond Green Address 2018 Heated Argument, Blame Fallout On Warriors Coach & Team Manager: They F**ked It Up
Kevin Durant and Draymond Green laid it all on the table during a recent interview.
Yesterday (Wednesday, Aug. 18th), Kevin Durant met with former Golden State Warriors teammate Draymond Green for an interview. During their sit-down, the pair proceeded to discuss the infamous heated argument they had during a game. Specifically, the pair got into it on the bench during a 2018 game against the L.A. Clippers. Shortly after the incident, Kevin Durant left the team and signed to the Brooklyn Nets.
Draymond Green sought to clear the air with Kevin Durant during their interview, and he outright asked if their argument fueled his decision to leave the Golden State Warriors. In response, Kevin Durant revealed he was more bothered by the higher-ups’ responses to the argument rather than the incident itself. He stated:
“It wasn’t the argument, it was the way that everybody [brushed it off]. How [coach] Steve Kerr acted like it didn’t happen. [General manager] Bob Myers tried to just discipline you and think that would put the mask over everything. I really felt like that was such a big situation for us as a group, the first time we went through something like that. We had to get that s**t all out.”
Kevin Durant continued:
“I remember watching The Last Dance, and when Scottie didn’t go into the game, the whole team in the locker room said ‘Scottie, that was f**ked up that you did that.’ We needed that. We just needed to throw all of that s**t onto the table and say ‘ Yo Dray, that was f**ked up that we even had to go through that. Let’s just wipe our hands of that and go finish the task.’ I don’t think we did that and we tried to dance around it… It just made s**t weird to me.”
Draymond Green then revealed he felt similarly about the situation, claiming the team’s coach and general manager were unproductively trying to interfere in the incident. He added,
“I said ‘Y’all about to f**k this up. The only person that can make this right is me and K. And there is nothing that y’all can do, and y’all are going to f**k this up.’ And in my opinion, they f**ked it up.”
