Dwight Howard Fights Against Visitation Lawsuit Filed By Son’s Grandmother, Claims He Doesn’t Want Courts Involved In The Matter
Dwight Howard is urging courts to disregard a visitation case brought on by his son’s grandmother.
As you may recall, one of Dwight Howard‘s children’s mothers passed away last year after suffering an epileptic seizure. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the woman’s mother–Edelmira Vega Rios–filed a lawsuit against Dwight Howard for visitation rights in order to see her grandson, David Howard. Edelmira Vega Rios claims she had taken care of her grandson since birth and that it would be in his best interest to be on a visitation schedule.
However, the Lakers star has reportedly filed documents asking the court to dismiss the case. Dwight Howard reportedly rejects her caretaking claims and disagrees with the proposed visitation schedule. He also says he has not been preventing David Howard from seeing his grandmother. Additionally, Dwight Howard clarified that he’s merely against the court’s involvement and is fine with his son seeing Edelmira Vega Rios.
Aside from David Howard, Dwight has four children with four different women. His eldest child was born back in 2007 to Royce Reed, an original Basketball Wives cast member who left after season four.
It is also worth noting that Dwight Howard revealed he was married to WNBA star Te’a Cooper this past fall. However, there is speculation that the pair is no longer together, and they do not follow each other on Instagram.
