Despite the controversy surrounding Kanye West’s latest album, ‘Donda‘ has reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
‘Donda‘ debuted on top of the chart this week, becoming West’s 10th studio album to reach No. 1. Earning 309,000 albums units, ‘Donda‘ surpassed Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Sour’ with 295,000 units.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. each week. Units are based on consumption, which is made up of albums sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming albums. Each unit equals one album sale.
Reaching this status, Kanye West,44, is one of only seven artists with 10 #1 albums, joining the ranks of Jay-Z with 14 and Eminem with 10.

Following its release, ‘Donda‘ faced a ton of backlash from artists like Chris Brown and Soulja Boy who alleged they were left off the album.
In the wake of his new album, ‘Certified Lover Boy,‘ Drake leaked the unreleased diss track from West, ‘Life of the Party,’ featuring André 3000.

Continuing their on and off feud, Kanye West names Drake saying,
“I put Virgil [Abloh] and Drake on the same text and it wasn’t about the matching Arc’teryx or Kid Cudi dress/ Just told these grown men stop it with the funny s***/ Thought we was the new Abu Dhabi/ Told Drake don’t play with me on GD and he sent that message to everybody/ So if I hit you with a ‘WYD,’ you better hit me with, ‘Yessir, I’m writing everything you need.”

Ending the Sept.2 week 272,000 streaming units, which equals 357.39 million steams, ‘Donda’ had the largest streaming week of the year for an album.
