Will Smith Reflects On His ‘Worst’ Movie ‘Wild Wild West’: It’s A Thorn In My Side
Will Smith is taking a look at his acting career and reflecting on his worst and best roles
The 53-year-old star shared in a new interview that his worst movie was none other than 1999’s Wild Wild West.
“I don’t know, ‘Wild Wild West’ is a thorn in my side. To see myself in chaps… I don’t like it.”
Interestingly enough, he previously revealed that he turned down a role in The Matrix to do the film.
He explained back in 2019 that he was approached before Keanu Reeves to play the now legendary Neo role. Will Smith said that when the writers and directors Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski approached him, he wasn’t impressed and decided to do Wild Wild West instead.
Will Smith went on to explain how he feels about choosing Wild Wild West over The Matrix and said,
“I’m not proud of it. But… Keanu [Reeves] was perfect. Laurence Fishburne was perfect. So I probably would have messed ‘The Matrix’ up. I would have ruined it, so I did y’all a favor.”

However, when recently asked about his best film, he said it was a tie between The Pursuit of Happyness, where is real son Jaden Smith made his acting debut, and the first Men in Black movie which went on to become a franchise with three more films.
“For the best, I think it’s a tie between the first Men in Black and Pursuit of Happyness. For different reasons, those are the two almost-perfect movies.”
