Rev. Jesse Jackson Falls While Supporting Howard University Student Protestors, Daughter Says He’s ‘Doing Well’
Jesse Jackson unfortunately had a brief scare by falling to the ground while supporting HBCU students in Washington D.C.
Last month, Howard University students began protesting the poor living conditions of their dorms—with many alleging there are rodent, mold, and flooding issues. The protest has become known as the Blackburn Takeover, and it is the longest sit-in in Howard history. To express his support for the cause, Rev. Jesse Jackson met with the young protestors and various university administrators–including Howard President Dr. Wayne Frederick.

However, while heading one of these meetings in the Blackburn Center yesterday (Monday, Nov. 1st), Jesse Jackson fell and hit his head. A Howard spokesperson shared the news through the university’s Twitter account, writing:
“While meeting with various administrators, Rev. Jesse Jackson sustained an injury upon entering the Blackburn Center. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rev. Jesse Jackson and his family at this time.”

After his fall, the 80-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital on campus.

Shortly thereafter, Jesse Jackson‘s daughter–Santita Jackson–provided an update on the matter:
“Family, he’s resting comfortably & doing well: we thank u 4 ur prayers! Fighting 4 u is what he’ll always do. His goal is 2 ensure the well-being of @HowardU students: #MissionAccomplished”

Jesse Jackson has not spoken on the incident through social media–though he has actively been retweeting various tweets about the incident.
