Jay-Z Calls Perfume Company Suing Him For Breach Of Contract ‘Lazy’ & ‘Crappy’
You can throw the dirt off your shoulder but not on Jay-Z’s name.
As previously reported, the Parlux perfume brand is suing Shawn Carter, who is professionally known as Jay-Z, for breach of contract, which required six promotional appearances. The company claims the 51-year-old rapper received $2 million in royalties although he failed to appear. Now, after two days of testimony, the ‘Dirt Off Your Shoulders‘ rapper explains where he felt the perfume brand went wrong.
In court, Jay-Z called the fragrance company ‘lazy and crappy.’ He added,
“I’ve always had problems with the quality of lazy work that was coming from Parlux.”
Citing the commercial for ‘Gold’ signature scent, Jay-Z continued,
“It’s a B-rate commercial and my name is on it.”
He added,
“It was a tough relationship but I was still trying to make something great.”
Jay-Z’s trial days were sandwiched between his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. On Saturday, Oct. 30th, the entrepreneur accepted his award citing Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash, with who he has also been in a legal battle.
In his lengthy speech, Jay-Z said,
“Shout out to Dame, I know we don’t see eye to eye, but I can never erase your accomplishments. And I appreciate you and I thank you for that. Shout out to Biggs. He was one of the most honorable people I’ve ever met and we created something that will probably never be duplicated. I appreciate you guys. Thank you for our journey. Thank you. Thank you for your contribution to this journey.”
