A Reimagining of ‘The Preacher’s Wife’ In The Works, Courtney B. Vance & Angela Bassett Will Produce, Anthony Hemingway To Direct
A present-day “reimagining” of The Preacher’s Wife is on the way. The project will be directed by Emmy winner Anthony Hemingway.
The Preacher’s Wife is a 1996 American comedy-drama film directed by Penny Marshall and starring Denzel Washington, Whitney Houston, and Courtney B. Vance.
It is a remake of the 1947 film The Bishop’s Wife, which in turn was based on the novel of the same name by Robert Nathan.
The new version of The Preacher’s Wife will “creatively evolve the story in a new direction,” per BVP’s producing partner Dwayne Johnson-Cochran, while boosting “the musicality” of the storytelling.
Hemingway will produce with Vance and Angela Bassett.
Vance, who was an original cast member, will be featured. No further details about the project have been released.
