Carmelo Anthony Gets Into Heated Argument W/ Sixers Fan Who Called Him A ‘Boy,’ Man Gets Ejected
Carmelo Anthony had a Sixers fan ejected.
Lakers star Carmelo Anthony got into a verbal altercation with a Sixers fan during a game last night (Jan. 27). As a result, two fans were ejected from the Wells Fargo Center.
Things got heated when a man allegedly taunted Carmelo by referring to him as “boy” when he repeatedly shouted:
“get in the corner, boy!”
An angry Carmelo charged towards the stands to confront the man. As one of the referees tended to the ex-Nuggets player, he told an event staff member to remove the troublemakers.
One Caucasian male and another black male were seen exiting the arena.
Carmelo commented on the matter, saying:
“Some things were said,”
He continued:
“Unacceptable. I’m cool with fans heckling, fans talking trash, cheering for their team, booing the other team, I’m all for that. But when you cross certain lines, as a man, you just, that’s what you’re going to see. That’s what you’re going to get, as you saw there.”
Last Nov., LeBron James, who also plays for the Lakers, had a similar situation with two Pacers fans. Although it’s still unclear what exactly was said, the two attendees were reportedly removed for violating the NBA Fan Code of Conduct. Of the incident, LeBron stated:
“Nothing is uncomfortable for me, but there is a difference between cheering on your home faithful or booing opponents … not wanting your opponents to be successful, and then there are moments where it goes outside the line with gestures and words that shouldn’t be tolerated in our game. From nobody,”
He added:
“Things I would never say to a fan, and a fan should never say to a player.”
