It seems the highly anticipated Little Richard documentary has finally found a home and is coming to a screen near you!
According to reports, CNN Films and HBO Max have commissioned a documentary feature about the legendary Little Richard, aka the “Architect of Rock and Roll.” Famed director Lisa Cortés, 61, is set to direct the project.
The film, which is titled Little Richard: I Am Everything, will showcase the highs and lows of Little Richard’s personal life and career. Little Richard was born in 1932 and was an influential figure in pop music and culture for seven decades. His most celebrated work dates from the mid-1950s, when his vibrant showmanship and dynamic music laid the groundwork for rock and roll.
Little Richard has many accolades under his belt, including being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of its first group of inductees in 1986. He was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Little Richard died on May 9, 2020, at the age of 87.
The Little Richard documentary was first announced in December 2020, but it took some time for the project to find a home. It will premiere on CNN, with HBO Max holding domestic and international streaming rights to the film.
