Cameron Diaz Comes Out Of 8-Year Retirement To Appear In Upcoming Movie W/ Jamie Foxx: I Can’t Frickin Wait!
Formally retired actress Cameron Diaz will be making a return to the big screen again!
On Wednesday (June 29), movie star Cameron Diaz made a joint announcement with actor/comedian Jamie Foxx that she is coming out of retirement with a new project since stepping away from acting.
The two will star in an upcoming film for Netflix titled “Back In Action,” which will start production later this year. The action-comedy storyline for the film has not yet been revealed, however, Cameron Diaz, 49, is expected to star opposite Jamie Foxx, 54.

Jamie Foxx took to social media and teased the upcoming project via an audio clip of a phone conversation with Diaz. Foxx captioned the post:
“Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION – our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starting later this year!!”

At the beginning of the clip, Diaz admitted that she’s “so excited” yet “anxious” about getting back into acting. The famed actress went on to say:
“I don’t know how to do this, you know?”
Foxx enlisted the help of NFL star Tom Brady, who was already on the other line, to bring Diaz back to work. Famed quarterback Tom Brady dropped “a few tips on how to un-retire” as he un-retired himself earlier this year.

Referred to as “the GOAT” by Foxx, Tom Brady, 44, announced his retirement after 22 seasons back in February, then came out of retirement a month later.

Diaz stepped away from acting in 2014 and formally retired in 2018. She last starred in the 2014 remake of “Annie” before her retirement, making it her final film role.

Cameron Diaz
Known for her 20-year career in film, she previously revealed she quit acting because she hated how “every aspect” of her life was “handed off to other people” at the peak of her fame. It was when Diaz hit 40 years old that she wanted to take more control over her life. According to the mother-of-one, there were
“so many parts of my life… that I wasn’t touching and that I wasn’t managing.”
