R&B Group DVSN Breaks Down What It’s Like Securing A Feature From Drake Versus Signing W/ The Canadian Rapper: We’ve Always Been Appreciative Of Him Letting Us Develop On Our Own Path [VIDEO]
R&B group Dvsn recently spoke on what it’s like being signed to Drake.
In a new interview, Dvsn, consisting of singer Daniel Daley and Grammy Award-winning producer Nineteen85, shared how they have developed as artists while being signed to Drake’s label, OVO Sound.

The Canadian duo also addressed the “Drake Stimmy Package,” which is known as Drake jumping on a song as a feature in order to elevate the record. While speaking with the show host about what the Canadian rapper does for features in comparison to signing people, Daniel Daley shared,
“I think with artists that he’s involved with in the business of signing, I think that he likes to be like, ‘This person’s dope. Give them what they need,’ versus the approach that he takes when he’s just like, ‘I’m jumping on a record.’”

Dvsn also noted that an artist given the opportunity to work with Drake could be at risk of not lasting long in the music game. Nineteen85 said,
“And that’s why we’ve always been really appreciative of the way that he’s embraced things and let us kind of develop on our own path and figure that out. And at the same time we still can go back and forth on records or ideas.”
He continued,
“That’s how we ended up on the Views album or that’s how he’s had songs that he’s written and he’ll throw it to us and be like, ‘Yo, what do you think of this record? Do you want to do something with it?’”

Nineteen85 added,
“There’s always been that freedom but there’s never the pressure to feel like you guys don’t have to do the Drake way of doing things or you don’t have to do it the way the traditional label process would be.”
As previously reported, influential singer/rapper Drake, real name, Aubrey Drake Graham, recently broke the Beatles’ record for most top five hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Drake, the Beatles
Billboard reports state that Drake has accomplished his 30th career top five hits, surpassing the Beatles for the most singles of all time. The track that put Drake ahead of the line was DJ Khaled’s “Staying Alive” featuring Lil Baby. The song insinuates the Bee Gees’ disco album which debuted at number five on this week’s Hot 100 chart.
