Cardi B Reportedly Breaks Tie w/ Nicki Minaj For All-Time Highest-Certified Female Rap Song
Cardi B continues to stack platinum plaques on/plaques on/plaques from her 2018 Invasion of Privacy album.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently reported that Cardi B’s singles ‘I Like It’ and ‘Bodak Yellow’ have gone 11x’s platinum. This means that both the Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers sold 11 million copies each in the United States.
The new sales totals bring the Grammy-award-winning rapper’s entire career digital sales to 54 million.
Cardi B is the first female rapper to achieve this level of sales and certification. The 30-year-old recently shared a 10x Platinum spot with Nicki Minaj, who became the first female rapper to achieve that spot.
According to reports, Until recently, the two wildly accomplished artists were tied for the title of ‘highest certified song’ by a female artist. Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’ and Cardi B’s ‘I Like It’ and ‘Bodak Yellow’ had the only three female rap songs in history to achieve the RIAA’s Diamond Certification for sales of 10 million in the United States.
Cardi B is now among four female artists who have reached or surpassed 11x’s platinum status – this includes Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’, Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’, and Bebe Rexha’s ‘Meant to Be’.
This should give the rapper another reason to celebrate. For her 30th birthday, she recently hosted a star-studded “Dirty Thirty Cabaret”.
