Kanye Sued By Former Business Manager & Donda Academy CFO For $4.5 Million
Kanye West remains in the legal hot seat.
The controversial rapper now known as Ye is being sued for $4.5 million by his former business manager and Donda Academy CFO. The move comes after the Academy was quickly reopened just hours after announcing its shut down.
Thomas St. John, the head of the TSJ international accounting firm, claimed that after Kanye West refused to pay him for 18 months worth of work after hiring him in March. The CFO stated that when he confronted West about the $300,000 retainer charge, the rapper became heated and hostile and started yelling at him.

According to the lawsuit,
“He screamed at Mr. St. John and made clear he no longer wanted to work with (St. John). When confronted by the 18-month commitment that had just been made, Mr. West stated words to the effect of ‘The 18-month term was bulls***’ and ‘You’re insane for even thinking I would stick to it.”
Thomas St. John reportedly obtained a contract with Kanye West for 18 months as
“assurance that Defendants would not simply walk away from the business relationship.”
He asserts that Ye signed the contract despite only having paid for the first three months of service. As of October, Ye allegedly owed $900,000 and by November 2023, when the 18-month contract expires, he will owe an extra $3.6 million.
According to TSJ, he initially had high hopes for the rapper and had to reject down two other prospective clients to work with him.
The lawsuit comes as Ye‘s empire continues to crumble and Greenberg is said to be in the process of no longer representing the musician. In the wake of the rapper’s repeated anti-semantic rants [and other controversial actions], it’s worth noting that the Florida-based firm was founded by three Jewish men.
According to Greenberg,
“We are taking steps in response to the reported remarks in accordance with ethical obligations and court rules. We condemn anti-Semitism and all hate speech or bigotry, which is repugnant to the core values we believe in and live.”

Ye and his companies are currently being defended by Greenberg attorneys in two lawsuits: a federal lawsuit by California actors recruited to work on the rapper’s 2019 Nebuchadnezzar opera, and a civil lawsuit filed in New York by Ultra International Music Publishing.
