Biggie’s death deeply affected Keith Murray.
In a recent interview with “The Art Of Dialogue,” rapper Keith Murray passionately reminisced on being with The Notorious B.I.G. on March 9, 1997, hours before he was fatally shot. According to Keith Murray, the two rappers debated on if Biggie should remain in L.A. despite the fact that he had to appear in shows in London. The Def Squad artist shared:
“I said, ‘Big, you know they do not like you out here. Leave! Come back another time.’”

The 48-year-old recalled what the neighborhood was like back then:
“M*th*fuck*s will walk up and shoot people, literally. Walk up and shoot with AKs and kill people. M*th*fuck*s was shooting each other left and right with no problem, you feel me?”
Keith Murray continued:
“I’m in the car with Biggie and he’s asking me this. I said ‘Leave, Big.’ If he woulda left, it woulda blew over. And I felt Biggie Smalls woulda been alive to this day.”
During his interview, Murray noted that the night the “Juicy” rapper died, he, Eric Sermon, and Redman decided not to attend any after-parties for the Soul Train Awards. He continued, adding that Sermon later knocked on his hotel room door and broke the sad news that Biggie was dead.

Biggie is known to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. He signed with Bad Boy Records when it launched in 1993. According to reports, the Brooklyn native, born Christopher Wallace, attended a Soul Train Awards after-party along with artists Faith Evans, Aaliyah, and members of the Bloods and Crips gang. After law enforcement shut the event down due to overcrowding, Biggie and his entourage left in two GMC Suburbans to return to his hotel. On the way, Biggie was hit in a drive-by shooting with four bullets and was pronounced dead at just 24 years old.

Following the fatal shooting, a conversation took place during which Murray said a friend of Biggie’s told him that they knew who was responsible for his murder. He recounted telling his crew that they should avenge their slain friend that night. Murray said:
“I’m edgy right now talking about Big and Pac.”
He said:
“But Big was my man. And he got killed out there like that. And the dude who said they know who killed ’em? Now they saying the police know. But yo, we woulda got them guns and we woulda popped somebody that night in the name of Big. Word.”
