Kelis Shares She & Her Kids ‘Almost Fell Off A Cliff’ During California Snowstorm
It looks like Kelis experienced a close call and is thankful to be okay.
Kelis and her kids “almost fell off a cliff” during a snowstorm in Southern California.
In an Instagram video shared on Sunday (Feb.26), the “Milkshake” singer revealed her “plan was to take the kids to the snow,” when things turned left. She wrote:
“My plan was to take the kids to the snow, but we almost fell off a cliff! So make the best of what ya got n always be prepared lol #bigbear #blizzard #snowstorm #rescue #fashion #grateful.”

In her video, Kelis shared their car got stuck in the snow which required the helping hand of a tow truck.
“So the car got stuck, my truck got stuck. It’s, like, hanging off. Praise god, the tow truck actually made it.”

Kelis then showed her car stuck in the snow at a precarious angle while also showing gratitude that she and her family were able to stay warm despite the cold weather.
“We’ve been outside for a while, but we had all this snowboarding gear, so God is good. And I figured if you’re gonna be in the situation, you should at least look your best. So I’m wearing layers to keep warm.”
She went on to show off her gear.
“I’ve got my light on, thank God, because it’s pitch black out here. … Silver boots, little reflective action. You know, things could be worse. This is ridiculous. Rescue fashion! This is rescue fashion. See? Always be prepared.”
While Kelis did not clarify which of her children were involved in the near-accident, she is a mother of three. The Grammy nominee has a 13-year-old son, Knight, whom she shares with her ex-husband, rapper Nas. She and her late husband Mike Mora had son Shepherd in 2015 and daughter Galilee in 2020. Sadly, Mora died in March 2022 at age 37, following a two-year battle with stage 4 stomach cancer.

While reflecting on her husband’s death, Kelis previously said,
“It wasn’t something that was sudden. We were able to prepare, and love, and say goodbye. We were able to spend the time that we needed to, as much as we were given, the best way that we could. Is it a great situation? No, it’s freaking awful, but I am grateful.”
We’re glad to see that Kelis and her family are safe and weathered the storm.
