‘The Bachelor’ Announces Senior Citizen Spinoff, Series Set To Air This Fall
The highly-anticipated senior citizen version of “The Bachelor” is finally coming to ABC.
The network announced on Tuesday (May 16), the newest installment in “The Bachelor” franchise is called “The Golden Bachelor” and the spinoff will be on your TV screens soon.

As you may already know, “The Bachelor” follows one man searching for love in a house full of beautiful women ready to win his heart. For over two decades, the show has featured singles in their 20s and 30s.
The popular dating show has many spinoffs under its belt, including; “The Bachelorette,” “Bachelor in Paradise,” and “The Bachelor Winter Games.”
The latest spinoff will follow the same premise as the original “Bachelor” except for one major difference. This time around the lucky man searching for love will be a senior citizen. The leading man for the first season of the spinoff has yet to be announced.
ABC reportedly describes the senior dating series as showcasing a “whole new kind of love story — one for the golden years.” The network’s synopsis says,
“hopeless romantic is given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life. The women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities. In the end, will our Golden man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?”
Disney’s top unscripted TV executive, Rob Mills, previously spoke on what to expect from the show with an older lead. He mentioned the long-awaited series could see some changes such as featuring visits home to children instead of parents. He said,
“Some of the casting interviews we got, they were just so touching. It’s such a different way of doing ‘The Bachelor’ because these people are just at a totally different place in their lives. There is an interesting thing about people who have hit the other end of the spectrum, who’ve lived their lives, they’ve raised their kids, some have been widowed or divorced and maybe some have never been in love. We thought that would be an interesting dynamic through the ‘Bachelor’ prism.”
“The Golden Bachelor” will premiere this fall on Monday nights at 10 p.m. An exact premiere date has yet to be announced.
