Update: Jonathan Majors To Stand Trial For Domestic Violence Case

Update #2: (Oct. 25, 2023): Looks like Jonathan Majors will have his day in court after all.

According to new reports, On Wednesday (Oct. 25) New York Judge Michael Gaffey rejected the actor’s motion to have the misdemeanor assault and harassment charges he’s facing dropped. This means that Jonathan Majors is heading to trial on Nov. 29.

According to reports, Majors’ lawyers also filed a motion requesting that certain “evidentiary matters” continue to remain under seal, arguing the “sensitive information” might harm Majors’ right to a fair trial. The judge has yet to rule on that matter. As you may recall, the Marvel star is facing four misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault over an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred in March with his ex, actress Grace Jabbari.

Majors has maintained his innocence and denied all allegations against him.

Update #1: (Aug. 03, 2023): Jonathan Majors’ trial for allegedly physically abusing his ex-girlfriend has been pushed back.

According to reports, instead of today (August 3) the trial is now set to kick off next month on September 6. During a brief hearing that occurred this morning, Assistant D.A Kelli Galaway hinted at needing more time for discovery and told Judge Gaffey,

“The people are not ready for trial today.”

Reportedly, the judge replied to the prosecutor and said,

“Time will continue to run against the people.”

Despite today’s hearing being short, Jonathan Majors did appear in person alongside his defense lawyers and girlfriend, actress Meagan Good. As previously reported, The “Creed III” actor is accused of physically abusing his ex — allegedly Grace Jabbari — back in March. However, Majors has maintained his innocence, claiming his ex is actually the one who became violent.

Original story: (Jun. 28, 2023): Jonathan Majors has filed a domestic violence complaint against his ex-girlfriend who initially accused him of assault.

The Creed III actor now claims that it was his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari who became physical and not the other way around.

According to a recent domestic incident report and sworn affidavit obtained by Insider, Jonathan Majors claims that a “drunk and hysterical” Jabbari scratched, slapped, and grabbed at his face, causing pain and bleeding.

Two New York City precincts dealing with the actor’s counterclaims have found probable cause to arrest Jabbari. They also issued an “incident card,” or “I-Card,” an electronic document that directs police to take Jabbari into custody, at least for questioning.

Majors’ defense attorney Priya Chaudhry said:

“From the beginning, we have said Jonathan Majors is innocent and provably the victim here. Last week, for the first time, Mr. Majors met with the NYPD to present them with evidence of what really happened on that night. Within hours of viewing the evidence, and conducting their own thorough investigation, the NYPD found probable cause to arrest Grace Jabbari for assaulting Jonathan Majors.”

However, prosecutors are reluctant to charge Grace Jabbari. According to Chaudhry, despite supporting evidence that includes surveillance camera footage of the street dispute and photos of Majors’ injuries, the District Attorney’s office has been against investigating or charging Jabbari.

In his domestic incident report, Majors alleges that Jabbari had previously attacked him including a “verbal dispute in London that became physical.” 

As previously reported, the 33-year-old was arrested on March 25th after allegedly physically abusing Jabbari during a dispute. Since then, Majors has denied all allegations against him and insists he was not violent to Jabbari, who he alleges became violent while accusing him of getting texts from another woman.

In the incident report, Majors admits that he placed her back into the vehicle when their fight spilled out into traffic.

The report reads,

“I was worried she would be hurt by traffic. So I physically picked her up and put her in the car.”

Majors also described his own injuries. He stated,

“In the morning, my face was stuck to the pillow because of the blood from the cut from Jabbari digging her thumbnail into my face.”

Last week, Jonathan Majors appeared in a Manhattan courtroom for the first time since the alleged March incident. He was accompanied by his new girlfriend, fellow actress, Meagan Good. Reportedly, the judge reiterated to Majors that he is to have “no contact whatsoever” with his ex and must comply with court guidelines. Judge Rachel S. Pauley set his trial date for August 3.
