Michael Jackson’s Molestation Accuser Wade Robson’s Lawsuit Heading To Trial

Wade Robson– who has accused the late Michael Jackson of molesting him when he was a child– is heading to trial with the singer’s corporation MJJ Productions, Inc.

According to reports, the California Court of Appeal approved a lawsuit Wade Robson, 40, has brought against the late singer’s corporation over the allegations of molestation from the age of 7-14.

Lawyers for MJJ Productions, Inc. have argued that the company had no legal duty to protect Robson or anyone else from Michael Jackson because it had no ability to control him.

The Court of Appeal overturned a Los Angeles County trial court’s 2021 dismissal of the case and issued a tentative ruling that the case will be sent to trial.

Wade Robson claims that when he came to the U.S. from Australia as a young boy, Michael Jackson befriended him and eventually sexually abused him. In 2003, Jackson was arrested and indicted on 10 counts including lewd conduct with a minor, conspiracy to commit child abduction, false imprisonment, and extortion. In 2005, Robson testified that he indeed slept in the same bed as the pop star, however, nothing happened.

However, in 2013, Robson changed his story and sued the company representing Jackson’s estate, claiming that his previous testimony in support of the entertainer was due to “complete manipulation and brainwashing.” Robson made headlines once again in 2019 when he participated in the Leaving Neverland documentary which focused on two men–Wade Robson and James Safechuck–who allege they were sexually abused as children by Michael Jackson.

Safechuck filed a similar lawsuit against MJJ Productions Inc. and is also expected to head trial thanks to the recent ruling in Robson’s case.

In a joint statement, Wade Robson and James Safechuck recently spoke with TMZ and said,

“A sexual abuser’s passing does not deprive his victims of their day in court and, in turn, justice and healing. Michael Jackson is not sued personally in this case-his company is, and his company will have every opportunity to defend itself in the trial.”

They continued,

“We are pleased that the Court of Appeal has taken its time and considered all of the facts and applicable law in these cases. We look forward to oral arguments next month and the eventual decision of the Court of Appeal.”
