Well, it looks like Issa Rae’s ‘Insecure’ has officially secured a new home!
The uber-successful HBO series ‘Insecure’ is now available on the streaming giant Netflix.
The comedy-drama, which debuted on the network in 2016, is the first HBO original to hit Netflix under a recently-established licensing agreement with its parent group Warner Bros. Discovery.
According to details surrounding the deal, the media conglomerate made the business move to (seemingly) increase the production’s reach and bring in a new wave of viewership.
In addition to ‘Insecure”s introduction to Netflix, fellow heavy-hitter shows like ‘Band of Brothers,’ ‘The Pacific, ‘Six Feet Under,‘ and ‘Ballers’ are also in negotiations to join the video-on-demand service.
Crafted by illustrious writer, actress, and producer Issa Rae (+ ‘The Bernie Mac Show’ creator Larry Wilmore), ‘Insecure’ serves as a loosely-based extension of her acclaimed web program ‘Awkward Black Girl.’
The Los Angeles-set phenomenon chronicles the everyday experiences of millennial Black women as they navigate the modern-day dating scene, dynamics of sisterhood, and corporate-to-creative careers.
‘Insecure’ stars Issa Rae, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, Yvonne Orji, and Jay Ellis.
Recurring cast members include Y’lan Noel, Sarunas J. Jackson, Alexander Hodge, Kendrick Sampson, Leonard Robinson, DomiNque Perry, and Courtney Taylor.
The TV sensation ran for a total of five seasons, with its final episode airing in December 2021.
Upon learning of ‘Insecure’ launching on Netflix, many supporters of the series filled social media with their exciting plans to rewatch it from beginning to end.
Here’s what they had to say…
Currently, episodes of ‘Insecure’ are also still watchable on Max.
