Irv Gotti Says He No Longer Considers Fat Joe His Brother Due To Rapper Defending Ashanti Against His Harsh Remarks: ‘Once You Speak Negatively About Me It’s Over’
Irv Gotti doesn’t think Fat Joe is his brother after he defended Ashanti against his previous rants.
In a recent appearance on “Drink Champs,” music producer Irv Gotti, real name Irving Lorenzo, had a candid conversation surrounding the current state of his and rapper Fat Joe’s relationship. As you may recall, Fat Joe, born Joseph Cartagena, previously called out the Murder Inc. Records co-founder for being “disrespectful” to singer Ashanti.
During his latest interview, Irv Gotti expressed,
“Fat Joe was my brother [but] I do not feel [that] Fat Joe is my brother anymore. I guess it’s a Cancer trait because once you show me who you are or speak negatively about me, it’s over.”
When the podcast hosts asked why he’s so against Joe and not fellow rapper Ja Rule, the record producer explained,
“His defense and [Ja Rule’s] defense is they do shows with Ashanti … but Rule would never come out and say ‘Gotti’s a sucka.'”
Gotti went on,
“Fat Joe said, ‘Oh, Gotti’s a sucka.’ I gotta pull back and regress from that because if I was to go respond or anything with that, it could get crazy. He never apologized. He was on some, ‘If I’m you’re brother, I should be able to tell you when you wrong.’ But my thing is like, n*gga, you don’t even know what went on with me and Ashanti. So for you to say anything is crazy because you don’t know what the h*ll went on with me and her. Rule knew, he was there. That’s why all my n*gg*s never said nothing.”
As we’ve previously covered, Gotti went viral last year as a guest on “Drink Champs” after spilling a lot of tea, seemingly in an effort to promote the official Murder Inc. documentary. He claimed to have once been romantically involved with his former artist Ashanti — which appeared to have taken place during his marriage. He also shared he was shocked and hurt when he learned that the “Baby” singer and rapper Nelly were dating.
In addition, Gotti said that Ashanti’s 2002 track “Happy” featuring Ja Rule was written because of the energy they both shared during a sexual encounter.
In response to his negative comments about Ashanti, Fat Joe said,
“Whatever Irv had with Ashanti, is 20 years old. I know he was making some points that mean a lot to him..But, when you keep ranting about somebody 20 years later, it felt like he’s not over the young lady. Also we didn’t know that they was f*cking. The whole time, I was there, on tour – I never seen them together like that.”
He added,
“I’m not saying they weren’t because they were, there were rumors that they were, I never seen it. But I don’t need to know! It’s okay if it’s a documentary, but to go on Drink Champs and call her a b*tch [and] keep disrespecting her [is wrong].”

Following Joe’s remarks about the situation, the Bronx rapper addressed rumors regarding his alleged beef with Murder Inc.’s Gotti on “The Breakfast Club.” He previously shared,
“I love Irv Gotti. I love his whole entire family. His mother. One time I canceled the show to go to his mother’s birthday party from L.A. I love they whole family.”
He continued,
“Now my problem was like, if I’m ‘sis’ing’ you, you’re my sis. If you’re Remy Ma, you’re Ashanti, you’re my sis. You’re Natina. When I see you, ‘sis! I love you sis!’ No matter how much I love a person, I cannot sit there and watch this man disrespect my sister. That I call my sister everyday. I feel like a sucker if I don’t address it now.”
Joe added,
“Irv Gotti’s correct. I’m not his friend, [but] I love him, he’s my brother. He helped me at a time when nobody wanted to help me and I’ll never forget that. I don’t wanna cause harm to him, or have people looking at him a different way.”
