Diddy’s Clothing Brand Sean John Being ‘Phased Out’ of Macy’s After Two-Decade Partnership

As the old saying goes, “When it rains it pours.”

A long-term partnership of ??Diddy’s is reportedly coming to an end. According to a report from RadarOnline, shoppers will not be able to purchase Diddy’s clothing brand Sean John at Macy’s or on the retailer’s website, effective this month. Diddy, born Sean John Combs, launched the fashion lifestyle company in 1998. Reportedly, the brand has always been carried by Macy’s but in 2010 Sean John inked a distribution agreement with the department store, giving Macy’s and Macys.com the green light to be the sole distributor of the line.

Diddy reportedly sold a 90% stake in Sean John to Global Brands Group in 2016. However, in 2021 he purchased the company back for a reported $7.5 million.

Allegedly, Macy’s isn’t seeing sales for Sean John like it once did in the ’90s and early ’00s. An insider has claimed that the decision to “phase out” the brand was put into motion before Cassie filed a bombshell lawsuit against Diddy. Despite this, the step back from Sean John couldn’t have come at a worse time.

As previously reported, Cassie claimed in her suit that her ex subjected her to years of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and physical abuse. Diddy settled with Cassie one day after she filed her suit. However, in a statement shared by his lawyer, he denied her claims.

While speaking on the Macy’s, Sean John partnership, a source with inside knowledge about the department store said,

“As part of our ongoing review of our brand portfolio, the Sean John collection has started to phase out of assortment since early fall 2023.”

They continued, sharing that Diddy’s “products are being removed” and “won’t be available on the site.”

And added,

“It’s the course of business.” Companies are “always evaluating” and deciding “what’s relevant” for shoppers.
