Update: ‘Basketball Wives’ Alum Brittish Williams Receives Permission To Delay Prison Sentence To Spend Christmas w/ Daughter
Update: (Dec 13, 2023): It will certainly be a “Merry Christmas” for former reality TV star Brittish Williams!
According to a report from RadarOnline, a judge recently signed off on her request to start her 4-year prison sentence at the top of the new year. As previously reported, Brittish Williams was initially scheduled to turn herself in on Dec. 11. The 33-year-old was sentenced back in October after pleading guilty to 15 felony fraud charges. She was also ordered to pay $564,000 in restitution.
Earlier this month she submitted a motion for an extension of her surrender date, asking for more time to help her 5-year-old cope with the ordeal and find a home for her daughter and mother, who will have custody during her imprisonment.
The judge ruled that Brittish could start her sentence on Jan. 3, 2024.

The 33-year-old reportedly submitted a court motion recently, seeking approval of her request for a surrender extension ahead of her forthcoming jail stay.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the situation, “Basketball Wives” alum Brittish Williams was given 4 years behind bars back in October after pleading guilty to 15 felony fraud charges. At present, the media personality is reportedly scheduled to begin the sentence on the 11th of this month, meaning she’ll be locked up right before Christmas, which she desires to spend with her 5-year-old daughter Dash Dior.

However, court documents obtained by Radar Online revealed that Williams has made a legal plea to grant her an additional month before the sentence starts. Reportedly, her lawyers claimed in the filing that she has not yet found adequate living arrangements for her mother, who will be caring for the child while Williams is in prison. Additionally, Williams has argued as her child’s “sole caregiver,” she needs a little more time to help the minor cope with the transition. Williams‘ legal team reportedly wrote in the document:
“Ms. Williams and her mother have been working to find the necessary place. They believe that she will be able to move in by the end of December. A little more time is needed to get a suitable living space for them. They have been working on it. They will not need more than a 30-day extension to get all of these issues finalized,”

Reportedly, a new surrender date of January 11th was submitted in the filing. A judge has not yet decided on the matter. After initially receiving the sentence, Williams‘ attorneys moved to file an appeal almost immediately. They argued that their client was not treated as a first-time offender due to her celebrity status, and are seeking a higher court to overturn verdict. However, it seems a court judge has not yet decided on that matter either.
