Update: Shooting At Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Not Related To Terrorism, Incident Started As ‘Dispute Between Several’ Attendees
Update: (Feb. 15, 2024): New details have surfaced surrounding the shooting that took place yesterday (Feb. 14) at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade.
As recently reported, toward the end of the celebratory event, a shooting occurred, which initial reports said resulted in the arrest of two people and the injury of 10 bystanders. However, a press conference today (Feb. 15) held by Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves revealed that the incident actually left 22 people with gunshot wounds and, unfortunately, a 43-year-old woman dead. Half of the victims were minors, under the age of 16, according to Chief Graves.
Chief Graves also noted that three people were arrested and two of the suspects are juveniles. She added, confirming the shooting was not in connection to “terrorism or homegrown violent extremism,”
“This appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire.”
This is an ongoing investigation, please check back for updates.
We’re sending our prayers to the Kansas City community during this difficult time.

The tragic situation allegedly unfolded shortly after Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and other members of the Chiefs departed the parade stage. Authorities posted on social media that they are “still trying to determine the number of shooting victims.” As of now, up to 10 people were reportedly injured.

The Kansas City Police Department confirmed the incident saying,
“Shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage and multiple people were struck. We took two armed people into custody for more investigation.”

A female attendee reported standing to the right of the stage during the Chiefs’ celebratory rally for their Super Bowl win. As per the woman’s account, she initially remained unaware of the situation unfolding but saw police rushing into buildings around Union Station. Another individual in the crowd speculated at that moment that there might be a fire.
When recounting the harrowing incident, another woman stated,
“I was just telling everybody to get down, get down and get out the way and then the officers were coming around.”
Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, expressed his support for the city following the shooting.
He posted on social media, simply stating,
“Praying for Kansas City…”

We’re sending our prayers to all impacted by this tragic incident.
