Normani Reveals Ciara & Russell Wilson Set Her Up w/ Her Boyfriend, NFL Player DK Metcalf: ‘They Was Playing Cupid’

R&B songstress Normani recently dished about how she connected with her man DK Metcalf.

The former 5th Harmony member revealed that power couple Ciara and Russell Wilson introduced her to her beau, sharing that they put in a lot of work to make sure they met.

Normani, 28, visited Ebro’s Apple Music podcast The Ebro Show to discuss her new album Dopamine when she opened up about her relationship with DK Metlcalf, 26. If you recall, speculations that the pair were dating started back in 2022 after they were spotted having dinner.

Getting candid about the romance, Normani stated about the NFL star:

“He’s such a light for me, especially just like in my lowest points…He popped up today — didn’t even know he was coming. But I needed that.”

After Ebro questioned how things began, Normani explained that her music colleague/friend Ciara along with her quarterback husband Russell Wilson set them up, stating:

“It’s like, if you could trust [any] couple, that would be the couple…[At] multiple occasions [Ciara] was like, ‘Hey, I know this guy.'”

As you may know, Russell Wilson and Ciara tied the knot back in 2016 and are raising 4 children together, including Ciara’s son Future who she shares with the rapper of the same name. The “Goodies” singer appears to be good friends with Normani, while Wilson and DK played together for the Seattle Seahawks.

Normani went on in the interview to share that Metcalf had been trying to pursue her “for a while,” though she admitted to being in “a whole different situation.” However, the musician said when the “opportunity presented itself,” she was ready to take the leap, adding:

“Then C[iara], she kept texting me. She had an alcohol brand that she was releasing, but she was really adamant about me coming. Very adamant…When I was on the way, she was like, ‘Oh yeah, your boy’s going to be there.’ I said, ‘OK, I see. I see what she was trying to do here.’ They did the same to him once he was already there. They was playing Cupid. But it worked.”
