Popular YouTuber MrBeast Addresses Controversy Over Past Racist Remarks
MrBeast, the popular YouTuber whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, responded on Wednesday (July 31) to resurfacing allegations of racist remarks from earlier in his career.

The controversy emerged after a 2017 clip circulated, in which YouTube influencer Rosanna Pansino alleged that MrBeast, known for his elaborate stunts, philanthropic endeavors, and viral challenges, made a concerning remark about selling Black people for money, saying:
“The most I would pay is probably 300.”
.@YouTube put it’s entire machine behind this guy and many other racist Youtubers to make them rich and famous.

In response, a spokesperson for MrBeast stated,
“When Jimmy was a teenager, he acted like many kids and used inappropriate language while trying to be funny. Over the years he has repeatedly apologized and has learned that increasing influence comes with increased responsibility to be more aware and more sensitive to the power of language. After making some bad jokes and other mistakes when he was younger, as an adult he has focused on engaging with the MrBeast community to work together on making a positive impact around the world.”
This acknowledgment of past errors comes amid another controversy involving Ava Kris Tyson, a longtime colleague of MrBeast, who has been accused of making inappropriate sexual comments to minors.

MrBeast previously addressed these allegations on X (formerly Twitter), stating that he was…
“disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts.”

He announced that an independent third party would investigate the situation thoroughly and that Ava Kris Tyson had been removed from the company and any association with MrBeast.
