Young Dolph’s Murder Trial Set To Begin This Week As The Court Finalizes Jury Selection
The men accused of assassinating rap star Young Dolph will stand trial beginning this week.
Reports recently confirmed that the court overseeing the trial has completed jury selection, setting the stage for the case to commence.

Young Dolph
A local Tennessee news outlet reported that the case against Young Dolph’s, real name Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., accused killers has been scheduled for September 23rd, following the conclusion of jury selection which was finalized earlier this week. The “100 Shots” rapper was gunned down back in 2021 while visiting a popular cookie shop in Memphis. He was 36-years-old at his time of passing.
An investigation into Dolph’s murder led to the arrest of 3 men; suspects Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith Jr. – who are both accused of being the triggerman and are charged with first-degree murder among other felonies, as well as suspect Hernandez GovanĀ who stands accused of ordering the hit that claimed Dolph’s life. He’s charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, and attempted murder. The report notes that all of the suspects are expected to attend the first hearing kicking off next week.

The report also notes that trial was originally supposed to begin back in earlier this year, but was delayed after the defense counsel requested more time for experts to review information. Should any of the suspects be found guilty of the first-degree murder, they could face life in prison without the possibility of parole under Tennessee law. We will continue to update as the trial moves forward.
