Jay-Z’s Lawyer Seeks To Dismiss R*pe Lawsuit Over Legal Technicalities
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, is pushing to dismiss a rape lawsuit, arguing the claims are invalid under the law. According to court documents, Spiro says the statute Jane Doe is suing under didn’t take effect until three months after the alleged 2000 assault and can’t be applied retroactively.
He also contends the alleged location of the incident was outside New York City, making the statute inapplicable, and says any claims expired in August 2021.
Jane Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, counters that the law supports victims and their case. Jay-Z’s legal team is seeking to have the case thrown out.
