Jay-Z Calls For Sanctions Against Attorney Tony Buzbee Over Failure To Meet Client Before Filing Lawsuit
According to TMZ, Jay-Z is calling for sanctions against attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents several individuals accusing Diddy of various allegations. In legal documents filed this month, Jay-Z‘s team criticized Buzbee for not meeting with the client before filing the complaint.
According to Jay-Z’s lawyers, Buzbee admitted that he never met with the Jane Doe suing Diddy and Jay-Z prior to signing off on the case.
Tony Buzbee, however, maintains that the case was properly vetted and that he conducted interviews with the plaintiff, including with four other lawyers. Despite his defense, Jay-Z’s legal team argues that Buzbee failed in his ethical duty to thoroughly investigate the claims before the lawsuit was filed.
The case became more complicated when the plaintiff, after an NBC interview, acknowledged she made certain “mistakes” in her recounting. Buzbee dismissed Jay-Z’s motion as “weak and desperate,” claiming those criticizing him have their own agendas.
