Charles Barkley Turns Down Contract Offer From NBC: ‘My Heart Is & Will Always Be At Turner Sports’
Charles Barkley has turned down an offer from NBC, he revealed on a recent episode of the Steam Room podcast.
Giving fans an update on his “future,” the NBA legend turned sports analyst said,
“I’m informing NBC that I will not accept their offer. I’m gonna cancel my future meetings with Amazon.”
He went to thank those at NBC who gave him the offer, as well as Amazon.
“My heart is always and will be at Turner Sports… I’m hoping that things can come together where I can stay with TNT and ESPN.”
As for what will help him make a decision, Charles Barkley said,
“It’s gonna be dictated on my workload. I’m not gonna work more as I get older. I’m gonna sit down with ESPN and TNT more, ’cause I just need to know if I’m gonna continue working, and that’s my only decision going forward, is how much I’m gonna work.”
He also said he “wouldn’t feel comfortable” leaving the network after 25 years.
Charles Barkley plans to sit down with his close friends for advice, once he finds out what TNT and ESPN are offering him “as a workload.”

His announcement comes months after the NBA ended its longstanding deal with TNT, reportedly landing a multi-billion dollar contract with NBC and Amazon. Barkley hosts Inside the NBA on TNT with fellow sports legends Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith. The show is under the Turner Sports umbrella.
