T.J. Holmes & Amy Robach Regret Staying ‘Silent For A Year’ After Relationship Was Exposed: ‘Unfortunately, Other People Spoke For Us’

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are opening up about the fallout from their highly publicized relationship — and the mistakes they made by staying silent.

The former GMA3 anchors made headlines back in November 2022 when news broke of their romantic relationship, despite both appearing to still be married. It wasn’t until December 2023, when they launched their joint podcast, that they finally addressed the controversy, denying cheating rumors and revealing that they were already in the process of divorcing their respective spouses.

On the Feb. 3 episode of Jana Kramer’s podcast Whine Down, Robach shared,

“We stayed silent for a year, and, unfortunately, what happened with that is other people spoke for us. People only heard what they were told initially, and all the pictures that they put up as proof to sell their story all stuck in people’s heads.”

Holmes admitted,

“[We] should’ve done it immediately, but we weren’t as media savvy as we are now.”

Robach explained that the media “outed our relationship,” not an affair, saying,

“Yes, we wanted to keep [the relationship] private until our divorces were finalized… but we thought we had a right or at least an option to have a few months of privacy while we were putting all of our affairs in order.”

Despite the media frenzy, the two said the “public pressure” surrounding their relationship has eased now that they’ve been together for over two years.
