Donald Trump Officially Signs Order Banning Transgender Athletes From Women’s Sports
Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports, calling it the end of watching “men beat and batter female athletes.”
At a White House ceremony on Wednesday, Trump signed the “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” mandate, stating, “It’s going to end, and it’s ending right now,” vowing that no one would be able to challenge the decision.
The order would empower the Education Department to potentially withdraw federal funding from schools permitting transgender participation in women’s sports.
Donald Trump also mentioned plans to extend the ban to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, directing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to block visa applications from men fraudulently identifying as women athletes to enter the Games.
The announcement was met with applause from supporters, including swimmer Riley Gaines, a vocal critic of Lia Thomas. However, Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson condemned the order, claiming it would lead to increased discrimination and harassment.
