Netflix’s ‘Pop The Balloon Live’ Draws Criticism From Viewers Over Lack Of Black Contestants
Some viewers aren’t feeling Netflix’s “Pop TheBalloon Live.”
The live dating experiment, hosted by Yvonne Orji, features singles testing their romantic chemistry while competing for a first date. However, fans are far from impressed.
One viewer tweeted,
“You will NOT see me next week for #poptheballoon #poptheballoonlive. This was trash. Yvonne, you did great, but where are the black people?”
Another user posted,
“Too much talking, everything feels loud, too many reality show stars, too many weird microaggressions, too little Black people, Arlette should have been the host, and not one match. 3/10.”

The show, originally a YouTube series called “Pop the Balloon” or “Find Love” created by married couple Arlette Amuli and Bolia “BM” Matundu, was picked up by Netflix in hopes of expanding its reach. Viewers, however, were not feeling the lack of representation or the overall vibe.
