Shannon Sharpe Steps Away From ESPN Duties Amid Sexual Assault Lawsuit, Continues To Claim Relationship w/ Rape Accuser Was ‘100% Consensual’

Shannon Sharpe has made the decision to (temporarily) step away from ESPN.

In a statement shared moments ago, he wrote,

“At this juncture, I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties.”

He also remained adamant that his relationship with the woman accusing him of rape was “100% consensual.”

Sources claimed that Sharpe would not be penalized by the famed sports network as things played out amid the $50 million sexual assault lawsuit he’s facing. However, regardless of where ESPN stood, Sharpe said he wants to focus on other things for the time being. He ended his statement with:

“I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason.”
