Waffle House Workers In Marietta, Georgia Go On Strike Over Safety Concerns, Wage Reductions & Delayed Raises
Waffle House workers in Marietta, Georgia kicked off a three-day strike last Friday, calling out unsafe conditions and demanding long-overdue wage increases. “We’re tired of being treated like we don’t matter,” one employee said during the rally.
Organized by the Union of Southern Service Workers, the strike began with a demonstration outside the Windy Hill Road location. Workers delivered a formal strike notice to management, signed by co-workers, laying out their demands: improved safety measures, timely raises, and an end to the controversial meal deduction policy that cuts into already modest paychecks.
“This isn’t just about one restaurant—it’s about respect for all service workers,” a union member added.
The Marietta protest is part of a growing movement across the South, where low-wage service workers are standing up for dignity, fair compensation, and safer environments on the job. It’s likely the protests could continue this weekend.
