Will Smith’s Music Video Shoot Faces Setback After Union Crew Gets Fired Over Contract Dispute
A Will Smith music video shoot in West Hollywood ran into trouble when the union crew was fired, and the replacement workers walked off the job.
IATSE union members are currently picketing outside Quixote West Hollywood Studios after Breathe Entertainment let go of the 35-person crew on Thursday (May 22) amid a contract dispute. Replacement workers were brought in but reportedly walked off set this morning (May 23).
While music video shoots don’t fall under strict union regulations, crews often seek guild-mandated benefits and recognition, which is what led to the original crew’s dismissal.
Neither Breathe Entertainment nor Will Smith’s reps responded to Deadline’s requests for comment. Quixote Studios confirmed the union activity outside but said, “We are not involved in the production, we’re just renting out the space,” and had no further comment.
