YNW Melly’s Retrial For Double-Murder Charge Delayed Again Due To Pending Appeal
YNW Melly’s double murder retrial faces another delay.
The rapper’s retrial was scheduled to begin on September 10, but a pending appeal has paused the proceedings. A new hearing is now set for July 9 to determine when the trial can move forward.

Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, has been in custody since 2019. He is accused of killing his close friends and fellow YNW members YNWJuvy and YNWSakchaser. Prosecutors allege that Melly and co-defendant #YNWBortlen staged the scene to make it appear like a drive-by.
Both have pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
Melly’s first trial ended in a mistrial in July 2023 after jurors could not reach a unanimous decision.
