LL Cool J Cancels Philadelphia Performance At Wawa Welcome America Festival In Support Of Union Strike: ‘No Way I Can Perform Across A Picket Line’
LL Cool J is standing in solidarity with striking city workers in Philadelphia. The hip-hop legend has officially canceled his July 4th performance at the Wawa Welcome America Festival.

The decision comes as nearly 9,000 municipal workers, represented by AFSCME District Council 33, walked off the job on July 1.

The union includes sanitation workers, 911 dispatchers, airport staff, and more. They’re demanding higher wages and better working conditions after rejecting the city’s contract offer.

LL explained his decision, saying: “There’s absolutely no way that I can perform, cross a picket line, and pick up money when I know that people are out there fighting for a living wage.”
————————
He was originally scheduled to headline the festival’s Fourth of July concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. It remains unclear how the strike will affect other performers and events. *Did he make the right call?*
