Hit-Boy Credits Jay-Z & Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez For Helping Him Escape 18-Year Publishing Deal: ‘Today I Am A Free Man’
Hit-Boy is celebrating his long-awaited freedom from a restrictive 18-year publishing deal and he’s giving major credit to Jay-Z and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez.
In an lengthy Instagram post, the Grammy-winning producer wrote, “The first CD I ever bought with my own money was ‘The Blueprint’ by Jay-Z when I was 13… I never would’ve imagined… I would have the opportunity to work with him 10 years later.”
Hit-Boy went on to thank Jay-Z for helping him secure his release from a nearly two-decade-long deal, calling it “more valuable than a plane or anything tangible.” He added, “Today I am a free man. I feel like I just got out the pen after an 18-year sentence… My best has yet to be seen. God is Great!”
To mark the moment, Hit-Boy dropped a new independent single titled “What’s the Deal?” signaling a fresh start in both music and ownership.
What are your thoughts on Jay and Desiree coming to Hit-Boy’s rescue?
