Denzel Washington Reflects On Old Hollywood Vs. Today’s TV & Film Industry: ‘You Actually Had To Be Good At What You Did’ [VIDEO]
Denzel Washington is speaking candidly about what he sees as a major difference between today’s generation of actors vs. the stars of Old Hollywood.
During a recent interview with the Associated Press promoting his new film Highest to Lowest, directed by Spike Lee, the two-time Oscar winner bluntly stated that talent no longer seems to be a requirement to land roles in the industry.

“I didn’t grow up like your generation is growing up… you actually had to be good at what you did,” he said.
Washington, who has built a legendary career over four decades and is widely considered one of the greatest actors of all time, went on to suggest that internet following now holds more weight than skill. According to him, actors today don’t necessarily have to be talented, just well-followed.
Do you agree with Denzel’s take on the current landscape of acting?
