Mike Tyson Reveals Why His Family Urged Him To Smoke Weed: ‘Whole Different Person’
Mike Tyson is opening up about a surprising moment in his household when his own wife and kids asked him to pick weed back up because of how drastically his mood changed.
On the debut episode of the “Confidence of Champions” podcast, Tyson explained that stepping away from marijuana for just a few days turned him into someone even his family did not recognize. At around the 59 minute mark, he described the difference between being drunk and being high.
“When I’m drunk, I’m f**king making a fool of myself,” he said. He added, “You get some weed, they start taking selfies. … That was the peace pipe, that’s why the Native Americans used it.”
Tyson said his break from smoking did not last long.
“My wife and my kids would get scared,” he admitted. “‘Please smoke, Daddy.’ … It’s just a whole different person.”
Tyson has long embraced cannabis. He once revealed he spends as much as forty thousand dollars a month on weed and shared that he first started smoking at just ten years old.
“If I didn’t smoke, I would have a bad day,” he said. “It smooths me out, like I’m a whole different person.”
