Rihanna Perfumes Pulled From Shelves In The U.K. Over Banned Ingredients That Could Harm Women & Unborn Babies
Some fragrances from Rihanna’s perfume collection are being pulled from shelves in the U.K. after regulators flagged potentially harmful ingredients in select batches.
Retail chain Savers, located primarily in the United Kingdom and Ireland, announced a recall for certain bottles of Kiss by Rihanna and Riri by Rihanna after testing revealed the presence of hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde and butylphenyl methylpropional — chemicals commonly known as Lyral and Lilial.
Lyral has been banned due to a high number of allergic reactions. At the same time, Lilial was removed from approved cosmetic ingredients because of concerns that it may affect women’s reproductive systems and unborn babies.
In an official statement, the retailer said:
“Savers have today (3rd March 2026) issued a recall of the above fragrance lines as some have been found to contain ingredients – hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde and butylphenyl methylpropional which are prohibited from sale in the U.K.”
The company advised shoppers to return the products for a full refund, adding, “Customers should return any of the above products purchased at a Savers store to the place of purchase, where they will be issued a full refund.”
The United Kingdom banned Lyral and Lilial in 2022.
Do you think this recall will make its way to the U.S.?
