Beyoncé Releases Surprise Song ‘Morning Dew (Donk)’
Beyoncé is kicking off the countdown to a major milestone with new music.
The singer has surprise-released a new song titled “Morning Dew (Donk),” marking her first new track in two years. The release begins a 60-day countdown to the 20th anniversary of her sophomore album, B’Day, which was originally released in September 2006.
“Morning Dew (Donk)” was written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, with production from Beyoncé and Pharrell. The song will appear on the forthcoming 20th anniversary edition of B’Day.
A lyric video accompanying the release reportedly features archival footage directed by longtime collaborator Cliff Watts, while the announcement describes the track as a tribute to the BeyHive ahead of the anniversary celebration.
B’Day debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2006 and produced several fan-favorite hits, including “Déjà Vu,” “Ring the Alarm,” “Irreplaceable,” and “Upgrade U.”
