The 19-year-old sat down with NME to discuss her rising career, hit single “Coconut Water,” and the ongoing comparisons to veteran rapper #NickiMinaj. The track, which dropped in May and quickly became a popular sound on TikTok, only fueled speculation that Trim’s style was heavily influenced by Nicki.

Trim, who has previously shut down theories that she’s mimicking the “Super Bass” rapper, told the digital media outlet that she doesn’t see the similarities herself, saying, “Honestly… I don’t really get it,” Trim continued, “‘Coconut Water’ don’t sound nothing like nobody. Not even Beyoncé.” While Trim has reportedly been rapping for a couple of years, it was her 2025 single “Boat” that helped her gain major attention and begin carving out a name for herself.
